A robust well-being strategy and policy ensures that the organisation’s vision can be realised and provides the direction and supporting mechanism to a resilient, efficient, and effective workforce. Through robust analysis of your organisation, we are here to help you to develop and implement a conducive and effective well-being strategy that will enhance your productivity.

Well-being Strategy and Policy

This sets the overall direction of the organisation’s approach and commitment to the well-being of the workforce. The strategy is underpinned and monitored by the empirical information collated through regular stress risk assessments, therefore ensuring that the needs of the organisation are tended to as opposed to the wants.

Well-being Strategy and Policy

Most organisations are familiar with Health & Safety Executive (HSE) compliance and risk assessment, and are therefore accustomed to managing certain specific business risks.

Unfortunately, many organisations are not familiar with identifying the factors that contribute to increased levels of stress and anxiety in their people. As a result, the horse has often bolted before appropriate interventions and policies can be effectively introduced.

A Pensa Stress Risk Assessment provides a framework for spotting and addressing issues before they become critical, and for preventing such issues from arising.

Stress Risk Assessment

From the outset of our engagement, we work with you to reach a deep understanding of the specific triggers to stress and anxiety in your workplace. The resulting Stress Risk Assessment ensures a significant reduction in stress-related issues, and noticeable improvements in the working environment. Your teams and leaders will be equipped with a tool that is set to prevent as well as treat stress and anxiety.

Pensa’s  Stress Risk Assessment explores specific areas of the working environment which, through research, have been ascertained as the fundamental elements which support the health and well-being of employees.

We analyse our Stress Risk Assessment’s results and produce a comprehensive report that provides clear recommendations for interventions based on empirical evidence.

Coaching and Development

Coaching is unlocking potential in an individual or team, to maximise their performance. Rather than simply teaching them, coaching helps people to learn, which means that results from coaching can be greater in both quantity and quality than those gained from training alone.

Research shows that coaching can most significantly improve performance when conducted through a strategically designed structured approach, with meaningful goals, objectives, and evaluation of outcomes.

However, despite the growth of coaching as an acknowledged discipline, few organisations know how to take maximum advantage of coaching.

Coaching and Development

At Pensa, we promote development of a coaching approach to be embraced by your leaders and your entire organisation. This approach enhances the autonomy of employees, builds trust and collaboration, and allows everyone to move forwards together.

In addition to providing expert coaching, we also provide accredited coaching qualifications. So, if you would like to develop your own internal coaching network, we can help you achieve this. And, if required, we can be on hand to support your network as it develops and grows over time.

People can face a variety of difficulties that are not caused by work, but can have work-related consequences. These may include health issues, neurodiversity, returning to work after illness, or pressure arising from external issues.

Bespoke Support for Individuals

Pensa can provide methods of support including talk therapies, coaching and mindfulness, based on the needs of the individual. We also offer assessments in specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, and can provide advice for reasonable adjustments in the workplace.

Supporting people when they are struggling

Effective teams are the driving force of an organisation, and are essential for productivity and results across all performance measures.

An effective team is created, nurtured and developed through focus on several factors:

  • Structure and clarity –  Clear roles, goals, and plans help individuals to understand what is expected of them, what their team is aiming for and how they are all going to get there.

  • Psychological safety – A shared belief held by team members that it’s ok to take risks, to express ideas and concerns, to speak up with questions and to admit mistakes, without any fear of negative consequences.

  • Dependability – Team members reliably complete their work on time. They take their responsibilities seriously, embrace rather than avoid them, and focus on keeping the team on track.

  • Meaning – Finding a sense of purpose in work is vitally important for team effectiveness.

  • Impact – When team members know and believe that the work they do makes a difference, they maximise their contributions and consequently increase the efficiency of the organisation.

  • Significantly, happy people are effective people.

Team Development

Pensa’s approach addresses all of these areas, and we are proud of our reputation as experts in the field.

We provide bespoke interventions for all aspects of team development to ensure that all members of your organisation are moving in the same direction, each with a smile on their face.

Furthermore, if your people, teams or entire organisation have been through a tough time, (and let’s face it, the 21st Century is full of new challenges), you might like to look at our Bounce Back Work Recovery programme, which can be adapted to suit your needs.

We also design, develop and deliver bespoke training for leaders and managers, to meet your specific needs. If qualification is desirable, we can provide accredited courses through our trusted partners.

Leadership and Management Development

Bounce Back Work Recovery

The Bounce Back Work Recovery program was developed to support members of the NHS during the COVID pandemic. It was piloted after the first lockdown restrictions were lifted, to allow teams and individuals to:

  • detach from the working environment

  • relax

  • re-charge

  • recover from the impact of the lockdown period

  • develop the necessary resilience tools to manage stress and anxiety

The Bounce Back Work Recovery programme was initiated to assist teams who have collectively been exposed to significant workplace pressure.

Based on the very latest research, the programme is designed to give a ‘re-set’ to teams and individuals, to facilitate the return to a state of well-being, whilst developing team ethos and building resilience. To assist with behavioural change, the programme is carried over a minimum of a six-week period and comprises:

Onboarding

An individual consultation with a psychologist to ascertain suitability for the programme. Individuals are screened using appropriate tools to establish whether there is a requirement for clinical intervention. The individual’s levels of stress and anxiety is also measured.

Detach, Relax and Recover

A low level activity day that encourages detachment from the working environment. The day includes:

  • team cohesion

  • communication skills

  • an introduction to mindfulness

  • relaxation techniques

  • methods to build personal resilience

On conclusion, attendees are able to formulate their own personal resilience plan and use it for further development.  The detach, relax, and recover day is inclusive, shaped around the needs of the team to ensure that everyone can participate.

Recover Support (initial, interim, review)

Individual fortnightly Zoom sessions with a psychologist.

The Initial session focuses on the individual’s development plan and goal setting.

The Interim session checks that the individual is progressing towards their goals, and assists if any barriers are inhibiting the individual from maximising their potential.

The Review session assesses the progress made, and includes quantifying stress and anxiety as a measure of effect.

Excellent results can be achieved in three sessions, and further sessions can be added if necessary.

The benefits of the Bounce Back Work Recovery Programme are numerous, and include:

  •     Increased well-being and resilience

  •     Increased team cohesion

  •     Increased productivity and efficiency

  •     Identification of underlying issues and signposting

  •     Reduction of stress and anxiety

At Pensa, we are qualified and experienced in the use of a variety of psychometric tests, suitable for a wide range of situations ranging from selection and assessment, career development and general well-being.

The use of psychometric tests can underpin other interventions, by providing a deeper understanding and exploration of individuals and teams.

Being listed on the British Psychological Societies Register of Qualification in Test Use (RQTU), we are best placed to advise on the most appropriate psychometric test dependent on the requirement.

Assessments

We also offer assessments in specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia, and can provide advice for reasonable adjustments in the workplace.

These assessments are carried out by a Chartered Psychologist, registered to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and are in accordance with the guidelines of the Specific Learning Difficulties Standards Committee (SASC).
